No-exam life insurance

Eligibility for fast-track underwriting, the process for those who qualify, and what to expect if you don't.

Several carriers have introduced accelerated underwriting programs that skip the paramedical exam for eligible applicants by relying instead on your application, medication records, driving history, and other data sources. Approvals can arrive the same business day. On this site, each quote indicates whether a given product requires an exam, might require one, or doesn't need one.

What it changes

Fast-track underwriting is not the same as no underwriting. The carrier verifies your answers and can challenge a policy within two years if the facts turn out to be wrong. If the carrier's records show something concerning, it may still require an exam or blood work; that's your signal to decide whether to proceed.

Who tends to qualify

Generally, applicants below age 60 requesting coverage within the carrier's fast-track limits, with no serious medical history and no tobacco or nicotine in the past year or longer, qualify for streamlined underwriting. Some carriers will also accept recent blood work from a doctor's visit rather than ordering their own exam.

Should an exam be needed, expect a 20- to 30-minute visit by a paramedical examiner to your home or workplace in the San Bernardino area, conducted at no expense to you. For applicants with good health, examination results commonly lead to a better rate tier, making an exam potentially advantageous.
